Richard Allen Upton, 65, of Springfield passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, in Urbana. He was born Oct. 8, 1959, in Springfield to the late Richard and Barbara Borton Upton.
Richard retired from Wright State University, and enjoyed running his Karate Dojo, American Pangainoon Academy. The Dojo meant the world to him. He was an Air Force National Guard Veteran and loved hunting and fishing.
Richard is survived by his wife, Kim Upton, whom he married in 1982; two daughters; Elizabeth and Jeremy Payne of Troy and Sarah Upton of Dayton; three siblings: Ron Upton, Rob Upton, and Becky Defibaugh; a grandson, Sebastian; and numerous friends whom were all considered family as well.
A funeral service was conducted on Febr 3, 2025, at the Adkins Funeral Home, with pastor, Ed Sollenberger. Burial followed in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle.
