The WSU Retirees Association supports the work of the Dayton Council on World Affairs (DCOWA) and WSU retirees have been regular attendees at its events. This fall, DCOWA plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Dayton Accords with Richard Holbrooke’s son, David Holbrooke, on Saturday, Nov. 21.
In November 1995, Dayton hosted peace talks to end the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The peace talks, shaped by American diplomat Richard Holbrooke, brought peace to the Balkans and put Dayton on the map anew.
25 years later, the Dayton Council on World Affairs plans and hopes to bring Daytonians together to celebrate with David Holbooke, whose HBO Documentary, The Diplomat, chronicled the events of the Dayton peace talks and more. The plan is to have David attend a private screening of The Diplomat at the Neon, followed by a panel discussion and dinner at the Hope Hotel , on Saturday, Nov. 21. Details are still being worked out.
The event may need to take place online because of the pandemic. More information and event updates will be posted on the DCOWA website and on social media at Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
The Dayton Council on World Affairs is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that has served the Dayton region for 70 years by educating and engaging our local community with global programs.
