Few women’s basketball coaches at Wright State’s level would have wanted to trade places with Kari Hoffman through the travails of last season. It took a late surge (eight wins in the final 16 games) just to finish 10-22.

But she’s the envy of many of her peers this offseason. While the Raiders were victimized by the transfer craze, losing two key players, they’ve definitely fared better than most.

“I’m just really thankful for the commitment of our players to return and believe in what we’re building and to know it takes time,” Hoffman said.

“We told them that all year: We’re young, keep trusting it, your experience will play off. We saw that late in the year when we were winning, which gave them hope that we can continue on this trajectory.”

The Raiders will return 10 players, including second-leading scorer Claire Henson (9.6 points per game), emotional leader Lauren Scott (7.5 average) and slick passer Olivia Brown (a team-high 2.6 assists per game).
