Wright State Athletic Director Bob Grant released a video message on Twitter late Thursday after the Horizon League and Wright State announced the indefinite suspension of all athletic activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s been a crazy couple of days,” Grant said. “My heart is aching for all of our student athletes and our coaches, especially our seniors. I just want to put out a quick message, letting you know how much I appreciate all of you. The athletic department, the whole staff here is working to try to figure out the best way to move forward with this sort of unprecedented time we’re in.”
The Wright State baseball team was scheduled to play three games this weekend at Nischwitz Stadium. The entire schedule on the school website now lists “postponed” after every game.
Wright State released a statement about the situation Thursday: "As always, Wright State Athletics is committed to the welfare and safety of our student-athletes. Their health and well-being, along with that of our coaches and staff, is paramount. Wright State is closely monitoring this rapidly evolving situation and continuing to follow direction from federal, state and local authorities to make decisions based on the most up-to-date information available."
