The Wright State basketball team has had myriad offseason workouts, some structured and some not, and seventh-year coach Scott Nagy gave a fairly glowing (for him) assessment of what he’s seen so far.
“I think we’ll be better defensively,” he said, “and I think we’ll be fine offensively.”
The defending Horizon League champs were proficient at both last season, at least after a puzzling 2-7 start. They averaged 75.8 points, second in the conference and four more than their opponents.
But Nagy only recruits players who are willing to be pushed, and he’s got a group now that has no interest in being pampered, which is why he can also give a blunt critique of a current weakness.
“The biggest question for me is, Are we going to be able to rebound the ball? The rest of it, I don’t have a concern about,” he said.
“We’ve been a good rebounding team, but we’re probably going to have to play smaller, and it’s a matter of whether or not we’ll be able to get the ball.”
