Wright State’s Trey Calvin knows enough about what’s unfolding in the Horizon League to realize he and his cohorts were playing one of the worst teams in the country Saturday night.
“They’re not in a good spot now,” he said of visiting Green Bay. “We knew we had to come in and bring it to them, be aggressive and put it on them.”
The Raiders did all of the above in a 77-46 victory that raised their record to 13-10 overall and to .500 in the league for the first time this season at 6-6.
They allowed only 16 points in the first half — just two more than Calvin scored on his way to a game-high 18. The Phoenix had more turnovers than field goals, going a grisly 5 of 27 from the field while coughing it up seven times.
Though the Raiders were coming off a gutty win against first-place Milwaukee two days earlier, coach Scott Nagy still felt uneasy about visit from Green Bay, which fired its coach last week and dropped to 2-21 with its 13th consecutive loss.
