Wright State University will allow its employees to take time off from work later this week for a good cause.
Employees and WSU will be able to volunteer this Friday as part of a special community service day the school is hosting.
As part of “We Serve U Day,” Wright State faculty and staff can take time away from campus to volunteer at the Dayton Food Bank, Hannah’s Treasure Chest, Five Rivers MetroParks, Wright State’s We Serve U and the new Raid Our Closet clothing service for students, according to Wright State.
The service day is organized by We Serve U, an organization that encourages Wright State employees to provide their time and skills to engage in community service opportunities.
“The importance of service to the community is part of our university’s mission and is ingrained in our culture,” said president Cheryl Schrader said in a prepared statement. “We Serve U Day provides Wright State employees and students an opportunity to collectively give back in one coordinated effort.”
