Wright State coach Scott Nagy is still waiting for the team he thought he’d have this season to show up.
The Raiders were knocked off for the third straight time in the Naples Invitational to fall to 1-5 — 0-5 against Division I foes — and their five-game losing streak is the program’s longest since dropping 10 in a row in 2014-15.
Long Beach State, which lost its first two games in the event by a combined 63 points, overcame a seven-point, second-half deficit to pull out an 85-76 victory Wednesday.
Long Beach State (2-4) shot 52% from the field, had a 38-27 rebounding edge and scored 38 points over the last 10:38 as Wright State finished eighth in the eight-team tourney.

“We’re just not good enough defensively,” Nagy said on his post-game radio show. “We honestly could play a 2-3 zone and do what we’re doing defensively.
“At some point, I think as a coach, I’ve got to quit being stubborn and figure out another way for us to be able to stay in games and guard better.”
