Wright State University has named a new dean of the Raj Soin College of Business.
Former interim dean of the College of Business Thomas Traynor was promoted to the position.
“I think I’m really ready to move forward with initiatives that we’ve already started as well as new ones,” Traynor said. “Instead of a standalone analytics program, we want our analytics education to be tied to the individual areas of business so that students are educated in accounting analytics or financial analytics and so on.”
Traynor is moving into the position as former Dean Joanne Li transitions into a new role as the dean of the College of Business at Florida International University.
“She (Li) brought a lot of attention to the college which I thought was very good,” Traynor said. “She made sure the region broadly had a much better sense for the quality of the business education that we offered and the quality of the faculty at this business school. My goal is to continue that as well.”
Joining the Wright State faculty the same year he earned a Ph.D. in economics from Purdue University in 1988, Traynor started as an assistant professor and became a professor of economics in 2003. He was the chair of the Department of Economics from 1998 to 2001 and from 2010 to 2016.
