Retirees continue to contribute at a torrid pace

University Retirees are continuing to show their generosity in contributing to university projects and funds.

The University Foundation reports that as of the first of October, donations have reached $143,250.00 from 117 donors. The average gift was $1,132. One year ago, the contributions at the same date had reached just short of $75,000, an average of $600 per donor.

A second annual Phonathon began on Monday, October 12 and will conclude in two weeks. Retirees who have already made a contribution will not be called.

In an effort to exceed last year’s participation of 19 percent, three generous donors, along with the Board of the WSU Retirees Association, have agreed to match any new or increased gift from 2014 up to $100. Nearly $3,500 is available as matching funds. Any retiree who did not contribute last year can have their gift matched up to $100.

A popular destination for retiree’s funds is the Retiree’s Nick Davis Scholarship Fund. This year WSURA awarded two $1,500 scholarship to deserving students from the fund.
