Join your fellow Wright State retirees for a Wetland Wanders tour of the Beaver Creek Wetlands Association’s newest location, Dave Nolin Wetland Reserve, on Monday, May 6, at 10 a.m.–noon. Beaver Creek Wetlands Association founder Dave Nolin will lead the tour.
Learn about the importance and rarity of this fen while enjoying this beautiful ecosystem. Bring your binoculars to see the variety of birds who call the wetlands home. Learn why and how the BCWA has helped to preserve and protect more than 2,400 acres of land along the Beaver Creek Wetland corridor. Dave Nolin Wetland Reserve is the newest location along the Beaver Creek Wetlands.
Two tour options are available. Dave will begin on a shorter, half-mile, boardwalk loop. For those who want to continue, the walk will include more boardwalk and some surface trails.
In the event of light rain, the tour will continue. A rain date of May 8 at 10 a.m. is scheduled in case of a storm.
Some sections of the boardwalk have slight gradient changes and may be wet depending on previous days' weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
Directions: At the end of South Deer Hollow Trail, pull into the gravel drive and turn left. Parking is near the trail entrance.
This event is free, but registration is limited to 18.
