A first-of-its-kind mobile hands-only CPR training kiosk launched today at Wright State.
The American Heart Association and Kettering Health have partnered to bring the new tech to the Miami Valley. Its first stop is in the Student Union on Wright State's campus.
The partners are planning to move the kiosk to multiple high-traffic places over the next three years.
Alina Joseph, executive director of Heart and Vascular Services for Kettering Health, was at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday and said that the machine easily teaches people hands-only CPR.
"Well over 350,000 people a year die of cardiac arrest in the United States, so the American Heart Association and Kettering Health are both on a mission to spread the news and education for hands-only CPR across as much of the community as possible," Joseph said. "And this CPR kiosk will do just that: it's simple, it's takes maybe 5, 10 minutes to learn hands-only CPR, it provides a test, and you can walk away feeling empowered, like you know what you need to do in case you come across somebody who is needing that assistance."
