Solvita Blood Center partnered with Wright State University to encourage more people to donate blood. This is a solution to a blood shortage in the region and nation.
Mark Pompilio, public relations and marketing manager for Solvita, talked about what they are lacking the most.
“As we speak we’re in low supply of type O- , type O+, and critically low supply of type B+," he said.
Pompilio said this has been an issue for months.
“We need young people too because it is a reality that older donors are reaching a point in life where they may not be able to donate as often anymore," he said.
This is why Solvita and Wright State worked together. They held the blood drive Saturday in hopes of informing the public that there are people in desperate need of different types of blood.
