Hundreds of people gathered at Wright State University to show their support for faculty members on strike through the Take Back Wright State March.
Students, faculty and community members met at the AAUP Strike Headquarters and walked to University Hall.
After the march, some of the people involved reminded others why they were on strike, and thanked the community for all the support.
“We must stand up for our students, we must stand up for our research, we must stand up for academics for as long as it takes.” striking Professor Dr. Noleen Mcilvenna said.
Students also staged a sit-in at University Hall. University President Cheryl Schrader left her office and spoke with students, saying she looked forward to meeting with them in the near future. The first meeting they had scheduled was cancelled due to the weather, and university officials said they've reached out several times this week to schedule a follow-up meeting.
The University also sent out an email on Wednesday outlining several topics in regard to the strike.
The University said that their offer to faculty is still on the table, but they are remaining steadfast on healthcare to keep costs down for other faculty members.
Wright State is also offering to meet with students to look at graduation course complement.
