News from Wright State Physicians
The Department of Geriatrics at Wright State Physicians is offering a Cognitive Assessment Clinic for adults 65 years of age or older who have concerns about memory loss. An interdisciplinary team, comprising a nurse, community health worker, clinical pharmacist, and geriatrician, provides the consultation service.
The assessment usually takes two hours with the goal of providing the person and family with a diagnosis and recommendations about treatments, as well as information about available community resources at the end of the session. Most referrals come from primary care clinicians, community agencies, or families.
The clinic nurse and community health worker gather as much information as possible prior to the consultation to expedite the session and to avoid duplicating diagnostic studies that have already been completed.
