Lee Hannah, Ph.D., professor of political science at Wright State University, is quoted in a Newsweek article examining how Vice President Kamala Harris could capitalize on the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Hannah told Newsweek that Harris’ campaign will likely “try to use the platform” of the DNC to “shore up any perceived weakness.”

“The campaign is anticipating immigration and the border being one of her biggest weaknesses,” Hannah said, pointing to an advertisement the vice president’s campaign released Friday that highlighted Harris’ background as a prosecutor.

“So, they will likely talk about her time as California’s Attorney General fighting violent crime and drug trafficking,” Hannah said. “And they will try to play up recent efforts to limit illegal immigration like the fact that border crossings are down.”
