The WSU Retirees Association will host a workshop led by Gary Barlow on the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh titled “My Friend Vincent: His Life & Work,” on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m., in the Bill Shepard Conference Room on the first floor of the WSU Foundation Building at 3070 Presidential Dr.
This will be a lively discussion of van Gogh’s life and his use of color, line, and texture, as well as other aspects of his artistic production. Numerous reproductions of his drawings and paintings will be shown, and many examples will be included in a “take home packet” designed by the instructor. An emeritus professor of teacher education, Dr. Barlow was one of the first faculty members to join Wright State in 1964 and is a founding member of the WSU Retirees Association.
There will be a break midway through the workshop to enjoy refreshments. The workshop is free, but space is limited so be sure to RSVP early. Email your RSVP by Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, to wsura@wright.edu. Please use the subject line “Van Gogh Workshop” and include your full name and the name of any guest you want to bring in your response. We will let you know by email if you have been admitted.
The WSU Foundation Building is located behind Wendy’s Restaurant directly across Colonel Glenn HIghway from the main entrance to the campus. Free parking is available in front of and behind the building. For more information, contact Mary Gromosiak at mgromosiak@woh.rr.com.
