The Wright State University Retirees Association will host a wine and cheese gathering with poetry and prose readings by emeritus Wright State faculty members Jimmy Chesire, David Lee Garrison and David Petreman on Friday, April 5, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., in the Bill Shepard Board Room of the Wright State Foundation Building.

Jimmy Chesire is the author of a novel, Home Boy (NAL Book). He will read from A Thousand Strikes: T-Ball Yellow Springs Style (Wild Goose Press), a collection of his columns from the Yellow Springs News telling the often hilarious tales of girls and boys, ages 2-9, learning to play a little baseball.

David Lee Garrison will read from his new book, Light in the River (Dos Madres Press). His poems have been read by Garrison Keillor on “The Writer’s Almanac” and on the BBC in London, and he was named Ohio Poet of the Year in 2014.

David A. Petreman has published his poetry in well over a hundred literary journals in the United States and Canada. His book, Candlelight in Quintero, was published in 2011 by Dos Madres Press and Francisco in the Days of Exile was published by Finishing Line Press in 2008. He also has published his translations of books by Chilean poets.

This event will take place on the first floor of the WSU Foundation Building (located behind Wendy’s Restaurant across Colonel Glenn Highway from the main entrance to campus). The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested. To register, RSVP by Wednesday, April 3, by sending email to wsura@wright.edu. Please put "Reading" in the subject line of your email.
