WSURA presents: Small invertebrates causing engineering nightmares, with Tim Wood

Dr. Tim Wood

Dr. Timothy S. Wood, emeritus professor of biological sciences, will share an unlikely tale of friendship, opportunity, and discovery with his fellow retirees on Thursday, Jan. 11, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m., in the Bill Shepard Board Room of the Foundation Building.

For more than 30 years at Wright State, Tim studied small invertebrate animals in lakes and rivers. Then three events coincided: he retired, a talented student graduated, and a nuclear power plant suffered an emergency shutdown. What happened next was a wild ride lasting more than 20 years that took Tim and his former student on problem-solving missions all over the world. This talk will describe how it all came about, with stories of harrowing incidents that never made the news.

Tim's talk will take place in the Board Room on the first floor of the WSU Foundation Building (located behind Wendy’s Restaurant across Colonel Glenn Highway from the main entrance to campus). The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested. To register, RSVP by Tuesday, Jan. 9, by sending email to wsura@wright.edu. Please put "Tim Wood talk" in the subject line of your email.
