Riverdale, N.Y.—The Wright State women's basketball team was back in action Saturday afternoon after almost a week of rest, as they traveled to Manhattan to begin a two-day tournament. The Raiders squared off against the Drexel Dragons, who battled hard but would eventually fall to the Raiders in overtime 71-63. WSU is now 6-3 overall while Drexel falls to 6-2.

Five Raiders scored in double figures, led by Symone Simmons with 15 points and Mackenzie Taylor with 12.  WSU got 10 points each from Tyler Frierson, Dasia Evans and Michal Miller.  Frierson grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while Simmons had nine.  Wright State shot 42% from the field and outrebounded Drexel 46-43. Taylor needs just three points to join the 1,000-Point Club.

First Half Recap

Saturday's contest was tightly contested throughout the game, and the first half was no different. In search of their fifth straight victory, the Raiders shot just eight for 27 in the first half. Luckily for them, Drexel shot the exact same percentage from the floor, and the Raiders took a one-point advantage into the locker room.

Second Half Recap

Simmons led the way for Wright State throughout the game, and her 15 points in the game paced the Raiders in the second half. The green and gold drastically improved their shooting from the field in the second half, making seven of 19 shots in the third quarter alone. Taylor hit a jumper with 55 seconds to go in regulation to tie the game, and it would send Saturday's game into overtime.
