Webex Video Conferencing

For use in Academic Advising and Career Services

  1. Prepare by reviewing Webex Video Conferencing. Please note, several options exist for connecting to a Webex meeting.  
    • If you do not have a computer with a microphone, a computer and phone can be used to talk with your advisor using the Join by Phone number listed in the email invitation.
    • You do not need a computer with a camera to participate in the session.
    • Laptops with microphones and cameras may be checked-out and used in 122 SC during business hours. A phone and ear buds will be necessary.
  2. Pay attention to your email for communication from your advisor with a link to join your appointment session
  3. Open email and click the Join Meeting button.
  4. You will be prompted to download and install the Cisco Webex Meeting app.
  5. If the meeting has started, a green icon will appear next to Join Meeting. If it has not started, it will indicate Meeting Not Started.
  6. You may be prompted to enter your name and email.
  7. Click green Start or Join and you will be connected to the meeting.

How to prepare for your online appointment

  1. Identify the computer you will use. A hard-wired (Ethernet) connection is recommended, but WiFi will work.
    • If you do not have a computer with a microphone, a computer and phone can be used to talk with your peer leader using the Join by Phone number listed in the email invitation.
    • You do not need a computer with a camera to participate in the session.
    • Laptops with microphones and cameras may be checked-out and used in 122 SC during business hours. A phone and ear buds will be necessary.
  2. Get the Chrome web browser, if needed. Using an up-to-date internet browser will help your session connection.
  3. Prepare by watching the Join A Teams Meeting or reviewing the Getting Started Guide.
  4. Pay attention to your email for communication from your tutor with a link to your appointment session.
