Health Insurance Requirement
Wright State University requires the following students be covered by adequate health insurance:
- All domestic undergraduate students registered for 12 or more credit hours per term
- All domestic graduate students registered for 6 or more credit hours per term
- All international students registered for 1 or more credit hour(s) per term
If any of the above three descriptions apply to you:
Each fall semester, Wright State will automatically enroll you in the university-sponsored student medical and prescription drug insurance plan for an August 15 effective date. Students will need to be covered by the student health insurance plan or WAIVE the coverage if they are covered by another health insurance plan EACH academic year.
- If you want coverage, no further action is necessary
- If you currently have medical and prescription drug coverage under another plan, you may submit a waiver request to have the premium removed from your student account. Your waiver must be submitted between July 8 and September 6, 2024. Your waiver will remain on file until the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Note: The online waiver will be available on July 8.
If you do not belong to one of the three groups listed above:
Undergraduate degree-seeking students taking at least 6 credit hours may voluntarily enroll in the student health insurance plan. If you choose, you must sign up for the plan by September 6, 2024, for the fall term or January 24, 2025, for the spring/summer term by contacting studenthealthinsurance@wright.edu. If you experience a Qualifying Life Event (such as loss of health insurance, marriage, divorce, etc.) and wish to enroll in the Wright State student health insurance plan, please contact studenthealthinsurance@wright.edu within 31 days of the QLE.
