Overview

College is a time to explore who you are, what matters to you, and what value you want to bring to the world! Joining a sorority is about finding your people - the women who will cheer you on and challenge you along the way. Your future sisters will be there to support you as you learn all that you're capable of, ant through the sorority experience you'll tap into your potential through exploring leadership, giving back to the community, and serving others. Wright State Panhellenic sororities are so much more than you have seen on TV or in the movies.

Sorority is... coming together to make a difference! Sororities bring incredible women together and provide outlets and support for us to do real good in our community through service and philanthropy. We believe there is no group at Wright State that has the power to impact our world like sororities!

Sorority is... FUN! It's about always having those go-to women you can sing at the top of your lungs with, late-night study buddies, that sister who is there when you need support, and a mentor who inspires you to be the best version of you.

Sorority is... a deep network and source of opportunities that will help you succeed - beyond what you can imagine today. Your sorority helps you find your niche at Wright State through opportunities to connect and lead, and the benefits of the sorority experience are real. Sorority women are 20% times as likely to have be retained at Wright State, more than 1/3 of our members are on the Dean's List, and our sisters are twice as likely to graduate on time! Our network of sisters around the country will make it easier to find a job wherever your dreams take you.

Sorority is... a community of support. You've heard about our 'sisterhood.' Sororities provide a family and a home away from home (whether you are a commuter or a residential student). Your sisters will be there for you - for celebrating your wins, for touch conversations, and for when you need a should to lean on. Sisterhood is deeper than friendship and lasts far beyond the few years we are in college.

Are you curious? You should meet our sororities this fall! Sorority Recruitment is a great way to learn more about our members - no pressure, at the end of the recruitment period you will have had a chance to meet about a hundred women who will make Wright State feel more like home. And if sorority is a good fit for you, you will find your support system for your time on campus, and for years to come!

What is the College Panhellenic Council?

Twenty-six national sororities make up the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). The word "Panhellenic" was derived from the Greek word "pan," meaning "all," and "Hellenic," meaning "Greek." The Wright State University College Panhellenic Council (CPH) serves as the governing body for six national sororities on campus (Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Phi Lambda, and Zeta Tau Alpha). The Panhellenic women work together to unite sororities, focus on common goals, and create a network of support for chapters and members. CPH provides many programs to unite our sorority community and to educate on issues about women.

How to Join

There are two ways to join a Panhellenic organization:

Fall Formal Recruitment

The process of sorority recruitment involves approximately one weekend of opportunities to explore sorority life by getting to know all five chapters and then making a mutual selection to join the chapter where you feel like you belong. In the weeks leading up to recruitment, potential registered members are placed with a recruitment counselor. Recruitment counselors answer questions and bring potential members to pre-recruitment events to show some of what sorority life is all about.

Spring Continuous Open Bidding (COB)

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is an informal recruitment process used by Panhellenic sororities to add new members outside the primary recruitment period. COB offers an alternative path to joining a sorority, emphasizing a more relaxed and individualized approach compared to the formal recruitment process.

This process allows sororities to reach their maximum allowable number of members, often referred to as "total." It's important to note that the amount of COB slots varies by chapter, and unlike primary recruitment, where the CPH handles much of the recruitment experience, during COB, the recruitment experience varies from one organization to another, providing a personalized and often exciting experience for those involved.
