About Wright State Online (WSO)

Wright State Online (WSO) is here to help you as you build a new course, refresh old content, and push your pedagogy further into excellence. We are constantly at work creating new content on our website to help support you.

The following is some information on our consultation and evaluation services, and what you can expect when you contact us through ServiceNow.

What to Expect

WSO’s personalized course support is a consultation service. WSO does not generate nor make changes to existing materials owned by the faculty. All implementation and content creation, including closed captioning and other accessibility accommodations, are the faculty's responsibility.

For additional help with understanding accommodations, faculty can also reach out to the Office of Disability Services.

Contacting WSO for Support

1

Submit a ServiceNow Request

So that we may better understand your needs, you must submit a request to meet with Wright State Online for support through ServiceNow. Required information includes preferred contact method, service request type, description of request, and the requested deadline.

To make consultation more efficient, be sure to be specific in your description of the request.

Helpful details to include:

  • Your stage of development. Are you using prior class material, creating new content, or somewhere in between? Have you yet to start development at all?
  • Materials/activities present in your course. This includes videos, audio recordings, slides, quizzes, and activities. If you need to generate content but haven’t yet, mention that.
  • Any external learning tools or equipment related to your inquiry. Let us know if you need help with existing resources or need entirely new solutions. Also let us know if you’re using any publisher or other third-party material.
    • If you are using publisher/third-party material, you must communicate with the owner of the materials directly and seek permission to make alterations to that content.
  • Your objectives. What do you want for your course? What improvements or enhancements can we help guide you through?

Meet with a WSO Member

Once you submit a request through ServiceNow, you will be contacted by a member of WSO best suited to your inquiry. Through any combination of e-mail correspondence, in-person meetings, and online meetings, we’ll work to get a holistic view of your request.

Depending on the complexity of the request, the team may need additional time to gather resources to better address your request.

3

Implement Changes

Equipped with resources and follow-up support, it is the faculty’s job to generate content or implement any necessary changes identified during consultation.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Recording and editing audio/video
  • Creating slides/lecture content
  • Adding activities to your course
  • Generating closed captions

Contacting WSO for Evaluation

WSO offers evaluations for quality course assessment and digital accessibility compliance. These services are available via ServiceNow evaluation request and should only be requested for a course you consider “finished” regarding both content and layout.

Before submitting a request for evaluation, review the resources available on the WSO website. Prior consultation with WSO is also encouraged if there are areas in your course you’re concerned about and want to address prior to formal evaluation.

  • Quality Course evaluation includes a comprehensive assessment of your course materials to ensure alignment within your course and compliance with Quality Matters guidelines.
  • Digital accessibility evaluation is designed to ensure that all digital assets in your course (pilot shell, documents, images, video, audio) are usable and accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. Assessments will be made according to inclusive design principles and in compliance with WCAG and ADA regulations.

Prior to contacting WSO for an accessibility evaluation, it is strongly recommended that you review your course with our accessibility checklist: Printable Accessibility Checklist (PDF)

Note: Evaluation does not guarantee 100% compliance and Wright State Online cannot give advice regarding legal regulations. If you need legal advice, reach out to the Office of General Counsel.
