DDN: Calvin’s offense terrific, but Nagy sees room for growth

Trey Calvin

Excerpt from the Dayton Daily News

Trey Calvin has become practically unguardable for opponents. He can get to his favorite spots on the floor with ease, pull up for a mid-range jumper and, more times than not, knock it down.

Foes know what’s coming, and the only answer is to throw a double-team his way or sit in a zone.

He’s seventh in the nation in scoring at 22.4 points per game, and he’s on pace to finish with the program’s second-best average behind only legend Bill Edwards’ 25.2 mark.

He’s also reaching personal highs in shooting percentages: 49.7 on field goals, 44.2 on 3′s and 93.9 on foul shots.

But while he’s living up to his billing as the preseason Horizon League player of the year, coach Scott Nagy doesn’t seem as impressed as others with what Calvin is doing.

His reaction?

Whoopee-do.
