About Campus Recreation Employment

Campus Recreation hires, trains and schedules for over 75 student positions.  Our primary hiring period is during the summer as we prepare for the school year, but we accept applications throughout the year. Email any questions you may have regarding a position to the appropriate supervisor.

Campus Recreation Entry Level Positions

The following positions are entry level positions for student employees:

Adapted Recreation Assistant	Provide workouts for the work out buddy program and assist with adapted recreation programming	Billy Willis
Fitness Center Monitor	Monitor fitness center, assist patrons and clean and repair fitness equipment	Billy Willis
Recreation Desk Assistant	Control recreation access, disperse equipment and conduct minor clerical duties in the Student Union	Billy Willis
Outdoor Recreation Logistician	Monitor and belay Climbing Wall patrons, provide customer service in Outdoor Resource Center	Erin Compaleo
Intramural Official	Officiate intramural sporting events and monitor the Student Union Gym	Billy Willis
Nutter Center Open Recreation	Monitor Nutter Center recreation facilities and participants during open recreation (typically reserved for IM Officials)	Billy Willis
Lifeguard	Responsible for the care and safety of patrons and pool equipment (must be a certified lifeguard)	Billy Willis
Rec Fit Instructor	Provide instruction for group exercise classes (non-certified)	Billy Willis
Personal Fitness Trainer	Provide personal training for patrons (non-certified)	Billy Willis

The following positions are opportunities for promotions within our department.

Climbing Gym Student Manager	Train, schedule, and supervise Climbing Wall staff, set all-level routes on top rope and bouldering wall, teach belay classes	Erin Compaleo
Facility Manager	Oversee all indoor recreation facilities and assist the recreation desk attendants	Billy Willis
Intramural Supervisor	Supervise intramural officials, league games during intramural sports contests and work shifts in the intramural office.	Billy Willis
Recreation Desk Student Manager	Hire, train, schedule and supervise Recreation Desk student employees	Billy Willis
Challenge Course Student Manager	Train, schedule, and supervise Challenge Course staff, manage course and equipment, facilitate programs	Erin Compaleo
Outdoor Recreation Office Manager	Train, schedule, and supervise Outdoor Resource Center staff, manage office activities	Erin Compaleo
Adapted Recreation Student Manager	Hire, train, schedule and supervise Adapted Recreation Assistants. Plan trips and activities for the Adapted Recreation Program	Billy Willis

Campus Recreation offers opportunities for those who obtain and maintain proper certifications in their area of employment.

Outdoor Recreation Trip Leader	Lead outdoor trips, teach outdoor skills such as backpacking, paddling, climbing, caving, biking, hiking, Leave No Trace, etc., obtain Wilderness First Aid certification	Erin Compaleo
Fitness Instructor II	Instruct general Rec Fit sessions with a certification through a recognized organization	Billy Willis
