Is helping others in your future? Visit Wright State University on Presidents’ Day to attend our annual Path to Health Professions event to discover your path to becoming a medical doctor or other health professional.

This event is for:

  • High school students interested in becoming a health professional
  • Parents, friends, and families of interested students
  • Current pre-health students interested in learning more about various health careers and pre-health programs available at Wright State
  • Teachers and counselors interested in learning more about Wright State's pre-med and pre-health programs

Attendees will:

  • Engage with multiple healthcare professionals and subject matter experts to gain a better understanding of careers in health care including medicine, athletic training, biomedical engineering, chiropractic, mental health counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, psychology, physical therapy, physician's assistant, public health, social work, sports science, veterinary medicine, and more.
  • Discover what it takes to get into Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and other professional health programs
  • Find out how degrees from Wright State can open doors to the nation's top professional schools
  • Learn what classes and activities you should be choosing NOW to prepare for your future

    Dr. Andre T. Harris, MD, MHA, is a distinguished physician and healthcare leader currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Miami Valley Hospital. With over two decades of dedicated service to the Dayton community, Dr. Harris has become a prominent figure in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

    Dr. Harris earned his medical degree from Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine, setting the foundation for his illustrious career. He further honed his skills during his OB/GYN residency at Miami Valley Hospital, where he not only excelled as one of two Chief Residents but also garnered recognition with prestigious awards, including the Jack Gruber Excellence in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology Award, John Halki Exemplary Physician Excellence Award, Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award, and SNMA Outstanding Resident Award.

    His commitment to advancing healthcare quality and physician engagement became evident during his tenure as the CMO for Atrium Medical Center from 2019 to 2023 where Dr. Harris established a reputation for driving quality improvement initiatives and fostering a collaborative environment among healthcare professionals.  

    In addition to his medical accomplishments, Dr. Harris holds a Master's in Healthcare Administration from Liberty University's School of Business, showcasing his dedication to comprehensive healthcare management. 

    Dr. Harris's passion for community engagement extends beyond the hospital walls. Actively involved in numerous local organizations, he strives to make a positive impact on the well-being of the Dayton community.

    A trailblazer in his field, Dr. Harris is the only black male OB/GYN with a practice in the City of Dayton. Alongside his wife, Charlotte, he co-founded Horizons Women’s, Wellness, & Weight Loss, a testament to their shared commitment to providing compassionate and comprehensive healthcare services.  He also has a Ted Talk (Testosterone the Hidden Key) that has over 3 million views.
