Student Groups
It’s not about the number of things you participate in, but about the quality of your involvement and your experience. Extracurricular activities are important to develop the interpersonal skills, discipline, compassion, and teamwork that will better prepare you as a healthcare provider.
At Wright State, you can participate in community service, undergraduate research, leadership and development programs, teaching and tutoring, student organizations, and mentoring. Listed below are a few of the student organization options for pre-health.
Pre-Health Society
The Pre-Health Society is a student organization at Wright State devoted to aiding you in your understanding of the healthcare field. Each semester, numerous speakers from various areas of healthcare help give you an understanding of the many career possibilities within the field and an in-depth look into the lives of healthcare professionals, residents, and many others. They also inform you of what you need to do to reach the goals of your future, whether that be talking to the pre-med advisor, giving volunteer time, or keeping up-to-date on important and social events. To join the Pre-Health Society, or to learn more about this student organization, visit their Engage page.
Multicultural Association of Pre-Med Students (MAPS)
MAPS is devoted to creating diversity to make a difference in all aspects of medicine and patient care. Through community service and dedication to eliminating ethnic health disparities, we strive to provide ourselves and those around us with a greater sense of being. If you are interested in joining or want to learn more about MAPS, visit their Engage page.
