Residential Academic Ambassador
Job Description
- Create programs and academic initiatives that align with Residence Life programmatic goals as well as the goals of collaborating Colleges. This includes bulletin boards, virtual content, community programming, and other initiatives related to each RAA academic focus as well as general student success. Work with Resident Assistants and Residential Organizations to provide opportunities for collaboration. (40%)
- Hold weekly office hours and study tables (5 hours) in your assigned community office/lounge. Advertise so students can stop by for help 1-1 or in a group setting. (40%)
- Hold review sessions as needed (required during mid-term and finals week). (10%)
- Other duties and additional Residence Life projects as assigned. (10%)
Supervision
This position is supervised by the Assistant Director for Residence Life and works closely with the Community Director(s). All requests for programming funds will be at the discretion of the Residence Life Staff.
Compensation
Single room in Hamilton, Honors, or the Woods as assigned by Residence Life and Housing. This does not cover fees, meal plans, etc.
Dates of Employment
The position begins August 5, 2022 and ends April 29, 2023.
*Note: Residence Life & Housing will coordinate a move in date before the first day of training on August 5, 2022
**Note: A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required and will be verified.

Resident Assistant (RA)
Job Description
At Wright State University, the resident assistant (RA) is integral to success for our residential students. Resident assistants are student employees who have direct and constant, day-to-day interactions with residents. As an RA, you will develop your leadership skills communication skills, while gaining a better understanding of yourself and others.
If you have a passion for day-to-day outreach and helping others succeed, making lifelong connections, and growing alongside your peers, the RA position is a good fit for you. This position requires strong leadership and a commitment to residential students. You must be available to residents for significant periods of time, which is critical to successfully developing your community and to effectively complete your position responsibilities.
Due to the required time commitment of the RA position, applicants who plan to take more than the normal undergraduate 18-credit-hour schedule will need to receive advance approval from their Community Director supervisor. Applicants who plan to take graduate classes or participate in student teaching, internships, co-ops, or nursing clinicals will require advanced approval from the associate director for residence life before instatement as an RA.
Furthermore, resident assistants may no be employed in a paid position with campus offices or student organizations for more than 12 hours without approval from their Community Director supervisor. Resident assistants must be able to balance the responsibilities of the position as well as their outside commitments successfully, or may need to reconsider their workload to maintain the position.
If selected, you will be assigned to a residential community. You are expected to remain in good academic and judicial standing with Residence Life and Housing and the university. Resident assistants are not eligible to hold any elected position in the Residential Community Council. You will be hired for one academic year only and must apply for reinstatement for each following year.
Qualifications
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at Wright State University
- Good academic standing by the first day of employment
- Preference is given to those who have lived on a college campus for at least two academic semesters
Compensation
Along with an invaluable and rewarding growth experience, resident assistants receive an allotment of dining dollars, a single RA room, and a waiver of the required residential activity fee. Facilities for partners or dependents are not currently available but may be examined on a case-by-case basis.

Summer Conference and Resident Assistant (SCRA)
Job Description
At Wright State University, our summer student staff is integral to the success of our department endeavors. As paraprofessional staff, SCRAs engage in a very exciting, rewarding, and challenging experience. Those involved in the Residence Life program will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and enhance their communication skills while gaining a better understanding of themselves and others.
Qualifications
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required at time of application. In the event that an individual who is selected for the position has their cumulative GPA drop below the required GPA at the end of the Spring Semester, that individual will immediately have the offer of employment withdrawn. Individuals will not be allowed to begin a position while on probation. Individuals must be registered for classes at Wright State University during the Summer and/or Fall Semesters. Individuals should not apply for the position unless they are able to make an employment commitment for the entire summer.
Compensation
Along with an invaluable and rewarding growth experience, SCRAs receive $9.50 per hour fo first time employees, $10 an hour for second time employees, at least 10 hours or more depending on the weekly tasks; an assigned room; and a waiver of the required residential activity fee. SCRAs will log hours for time spent completing check-ins, checkouts, and any guest housing and summer conference responsibilities. Note: Facilities for partners and/or dependents are not currently available. Summer employees must pay the $200 telecom fee.
