Academic Advising  

Whether you're an incoming first-year student, a student about to graduate with your college degree, or a new transfer student, your Wright State University academic advisor will help you define and achieve your academic goals. Academic advisors will assist with exploring majors, explain degree requirements and planning, and direct you to university resources. 

Centralized advising at Wright State helps you move smoothly into a degree program that fits your interests while pairing you with advisors who understand your potential career path and help you stay on track for graduation.  

University Academic Advising (UAA), through proactive advising and integrated technology, provides you with support designed to guide your progress toward a college degree. Schedule an academic advising appointment online or by calling 937-775-5720 for Dayton Campus or 419-586-0300 for Lake Campus. 
 



Academic Success Centers 

Wright State University’s Academic Success Centers provide individualized and group tutoring in various subjects at no additional cost. We help students become more skilled, confident, and independent learners by offering peer support outside of the classroom.  

The Academic Success Centers include Tutoring Services, Peer Academic Coaching, Supplemental Instruction, the Math Learning Center, and the University Writing Center, all conveniently located in 122 Student Success.  

Tutoring Services

Tutoring Services provides one-on-one course-based tutoring in many 1000 and 2000-level courses. You are allowed 1 hour of tutoring each week per available course, in person or online. 

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a group-based support option assigned to specific high-impact undergraduate courses. If you are enrolled in SI-supported courses, you will be provided information about SI leaders and meeting times during your first week of classes. 

Peer Academic Coaching

Peer academic coaching covers non-course-based learning topics like note taking, time management, getting involved on campus, and exam preparation. You can benefit from working with a peer academic coach. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome in person or online. 

Math Learning Center

The Math Learning Center (MLC) allows you to meet with a math tutor on a one-to-one basis for high-demand math and statistics courses. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome in person or online. 

University Writing Center

The University Writing Center offers one-hour sessions in person, online, or via email feedback. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. Writing coaches can help with any writing, for any course, at any stage of the writing process.

University Libraries  

Wright State's University Libraries offers you a variety of tools and resources to help make your time at Wright State as successful as possible! 

Ready to explore a new hobby? Enjoy visiting area museums? Eager to try new board games? The Library of Things collection allows you to borrow kits, fitness tools, museum passes, photo and video equipment, technology tools, and more—all free of cost. 

As a Wright State student or employee, you have FREE access to articles, e-books, media, print books, and other materials through the University Libraries. The partnership with OhioLINK and SearchOhio  (off-site) gives you access to many more resources. 

Our librarians are here for YOU—ask a question or make a research appointment to find the best resources for your project.  You can also be provided with a variety of how-to videos, short introductions on how to navigate the library's resources.

The Office of Disability Services (ODS) recognizes disability as an aspect of diversity integral to society and our campus community. Accessibility is an essential feature of the Wright State campus, and ODS strives to create an inclusive community for students, faculty, staff, and guests. Over 800 students with ADD/ADHD, learning, medical, physical, and/or psychological disabilities participate in ODS programs. 

Services that ODS provides you range from support groups, to accommodations, along with physical support, as well as assistance with navigating campus if you have a disability.


 


University Center for International Education  

Wright State’s University Center for International Education (UCIE) offers services and programming to help international and domestic students to engage with educational opportunities on campus. 

UCIE helps you navigate your new university environment, and coordinates study abroad opportunities for Wright State students, faculty, and staff.  
 



Wright State Athletics 

Wright State Athletics offers specific academic support for student-athletes by providing access to a learning specialist, tutoring options, and study tables. University Athletics also provides travel letters to indicate competition-related absences for faculty awareness.
