2025 Benefits Open Enrollment: Open Enrollment Highlights
Overview
Healthcare and other benefits are an important part of any employer’s total compensation package. Wright State University works to provide benefits to employees that are both competitive in the broader talent marketplace and fiscally sustainable for an operation of our size. The information below details some of the major highlights of this year’s healthcare offerings. Further details about all our plan offerings (including details on these plans as well as life insurance and short-term disability coverage) can be found throughout the open enrollment website.
Phishing Scams
Companies claiming to be university partners occasionally contact Wright State employees via email or phone to offer advisory services for benefit-related products. If you receive a benefits-related message and aren’t sure if it came from a university vendor, please check the Benefit Vendor Contacts list. If the vendor is not a university vendor, please mark the email as spam. Companies called AF Appreciation Financial, PeraGuides, and National Educational Services have contacted employees offering benefit-related services. Wright State is not affiliated with these vendors.
Spousal Insurance Coverage Policy
The objective of the Spousal Insurance Coverage Policy is to recognize all forms of health coverage that may be available to a participating employee’s family. In the event a spouse is employed and has access to health insurance coverage through their employer, this policy positions the other employer to be the primary payer of their own employee’s medical claims if the coverage offered is deemed affordable according to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If coverage is deemed affordable, the policy allows for the spouse to elect secondary coverage on a Wright State medical plan.
Medical Plans and Designs
The University will continue to offer the same three medical plans: Blue HPN, High Deductible Health Plan, and the PPO 80/20.
The 2025 in-network Out-of-Pocket Maximums (OOPM) for the Blue HPN and PPO 80/20 will change to $4,600/$9,200 (single/family). The out-of-network OOPM for the PPO 80/20 will change to $9,200/$18,400 (single/family). Please refer to the Medical and Pharmacy open enrollment webpage for detailed information and resources.
Medical Premiums
The medical premium structure will continue as a four-tier salary structure with four coverage levels: Employee, Employee + Child(ren), Employee + Spouse, and Employee + Family.
Please refer to the 2025 Healthcare Premiums for further information.
Anthem’s Sydney App
Sydney is a free app Anthem provides that our employees may find very helpful in navigating their medical plans. Once enrolled, you can perform several actions: find in-network providers, estimate costs, find quality care, access claims, check benefits, view ID cards, order medicine, chat with a doctor, access virtual care, etc. To use the app, you must download and establish a username and password.
Dental and Vision Plan Designs and Premiums
The plan designs for Delta Dental and Vision Service Plan (VSP) will remain the same for 2025. Please refer to the 2025 Healthcare Premiums for further information.
Insurance Cards
Anthem will be issuing new medical insurance cards if a plan change occurs or a new dependent is added to your plan. Cards will be mailed to your home address in late December 2024. The Member ID on your current cards will remain unchanged; thus, if there is a delay, you can continue to utilize your current cards until January, when your new card is received.
Delta Dental and Vision Service Plans (VSP) do not issue insurance cards. You can retrieve your card(s) at the Dental Dental and VSP or inform your provider that your plan(s) is associated with Wright State University.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
The university’s annual contribution to the Health Savings Account (HSA) for 2025 will remain $500 for single coverage and $1,000 for employee + child(ren), employee + spouse, and employee + family.
2025 HSA annual contribution limits:
- $4,300 single coverage
- $8,550 family coverage (employee + child(ren), employee + spouse or employee + family)
- $1,000 additional “catch-up” contributions (age 55 or older)
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
2025 FSA annual contribution limits:
- The contribution limit is $3,300 in 2025. The carry-over limit is $660.
- Dependent Care FSA: $5,000 per household.
2025 Health Management Initiative (HMI)
Wright State University will continue the Health Management Initiative (HMI) for employees enrolled in a university medical plan as the policyholder. The 2025 program year begins November 1, 2024, and ends August 31, 2025. The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness of behaviors that impact health, increase the detection of chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and encourage participants to begin and/or continue to make healthier lifestyle choices.
The three required actions remain unchanged from 2024 and must be completed by August 31, 2025, to avoid a $150 monthly non-participation fee beginning January 1, 2026. The three requirements are:
- Complete a confidential online Health Risk Assessment (HRA),
- Participate in a biometric screening (on-campus, Lab Corp, or your Primary Care Physician) and
- Visit your Primary Care Physician (PCP) to discuss the biometric screening results.
Healthworks is currently launching a new website to enhance customer experience. Once the website is available, HR will distribute an email with detailed website and program information.
Online Open Enrollment
Wright State believes it’s important for each employee to take the time to understand their healthcare options so they can select the coverage that best suits their needs and their budget.
All employees must make an affirmative 2025 election, even if they are choosing to continue with their current elections or make changes. You must take action through WINGS Express between November 1-14, 2024. A $100 late enrollment fee will be charged for anyone failing to act by the deadline.
